PONTYPOOL SKI RACING
We are the resident ski racing club at the legendary Pontypool ski slope in South Wales.
Our approach is based on getting plenty of practice, developing our understanding of ski racing, and promoting a culture of 'nice people kicking ass'.
Subject to places being available and an initial trial, we accept members from six years old upwards so long as they are competent, independent skiers with the intention to compete.*
Many of our members are just starting out on their ski racing journey and compete in schools and grass-roots racing such as the Gloucester Summer Race League. Beyond that we have a number of racers competing on the national artificial circuit, the British Alpine circuit and even the FIS international circuit. We also have a few adult racers discovering or re-discovering ski racing.
We are a friendly and welcoming club. Please get in touch through email or Facebook if you’d like to learn more or to organize a trial session.
*Prospective members should generally be able to achieve the Bronze level in a National Slalom Awards event using the Standard format, or a Polar Bear level using the Forerunner format when held at Pontypool. We run these events on a regular basis and competent, independent skiers can book NSA sessions through our website in order to try to achieve the standard.
